Game Classification

Armed Generator Doom Machine is a top-down shooter that consists of a series of boss encounters, all based on the same enemy represented as a set of brains. For each counter, the weapons of the boss are procedurally generated, which make each game session slightly different. The game selects weapons from a pool of lasers, rockets and various types of guns to construct a new boss every time.

The player has only three lives and the ship can be moved around, fire (a constant stream of bullets), fire a limited amount of missiles and use a shield. After a set amount of waves, the primary or secondary weapons, and the ship's speed can be upgraded. After dying, the part of the boss that killed the player is highlighted to take revenge right away. When a boss is destroyed, the game window will also shake visibly. The first weapon destroyed against a boss makes the player more powerful against it in later encounters.

Players can add their own variations of the boss using the in-game Brain editor. There is support for two players in a hot-seat mode and high scores are stored in an online leaderboard, with monthly and weekly scores. [source:mobygames]
