Game Classification

In this translation of the classic board game Battleship the player can play with up to seven ships on an eight by eight grid. Game play is the same as normal. The player and the computer take turns by entering a coordinate. The game then announces if the shot was a hit or a miss. The goal is to sink all enemy ships. Ships take up three tiles in this game and to sink a tile all three tiles must be hit. Ships can be placed by the player and the player may do so at any location on the board, both horizontally and vertically as long as ships don't overlap or partially fall off the grid.

A later release of the game featured different length ships and different views for either player. [source:mobygames]
