The Book of Three The Book of Three is an RPG based on the first book of the "Chronicles of Prydain", a series of books by Lloyd Alexander. It was made using the RPG Maker 2000 tool.

The player takes on the role of Taran, who lives a quiet and, to him, boring life as an Assistant Pig-Keeper in Caer Dallben. His task is to take care of the oracular pig Hen Wen, but he dreams of excitement and adventure. When on one day Hen Wen runs off, he chases after her into the woods, where he meets Prince Gwydion, his idol and the mightiest war leader in Prydain. From him, he learns that Prydain's peace is threatened by Arawn and his war leader the Horned King. And so begins his Journey, on which he meets many strange but wonderful friends and has to face many dangers until he can finally rescue Hen Wen.

Gameplay-wise, The Book of Three is a Japanese-style RPG. The player controls a party consisting of up to four members, with each character possessing a unique set of skills, and fights in turn-based random battles. Apart from the main story, the game also features some simple puzzles and a few side-quests. [source:mobygames]
