Booloid Booloid by Mark Essen was made as a part of the Bigmound collective, and it can be considered a sequel to Bool as it is based on the same gameplay mechanic. Players control a white, hexagon-shaped craft to collect white dots, yellow balls and orange squares.

Instead of a set of separate levels, like the first game, it takes place in a single, large world, with white squares that can be used to teleport to different sections. White balls can be collected by flying into them, but the other items need to be reeled in using a tractor beam, replacing the rope from the first game. The craft is still not allowed to touch the scenery as that draws energy. By avoiding collisions for some time, the shield energy is automatically restored.

The thrust mechanic from the first game is still present, but here the craft needs to drain purple pools with the tractor beam to restore coolant. When it runs out, the ship explodes and a life is lost. Certain white teleport squares can also be used to save the game.

Entirely new is an upgrade system. By collecting items, players can access a screen where the basic abilities such as stability, coolant, shield and tractor can be upgraded, affecting the craft's handling and behaviour. [source:mobygames]
