Campfire Legends: The Hookman Christine is traveling to the woods to meet her boyfriend, and spend a romantic weekend in her parents cabin. The car radio starts to broadcast scary breaking news about a mass murderer on the loose. As she explores the surrounding locations, she starts to uncover terrible secrets.

Campfire Legends: The Hookman is an adventure game with simple puzzles made for the casual market. The player has to move and interact with the scenery like in most point-and-click titles, moving through a series of static screens representing various locations. Objects can be collected and stored inside the inventory, accessible through the items button on the bottom-left interface. The objects can be dragged and dropped on logical portions of the scene to perform actions or solve puzzles. For example, a key can be used to unlock a door.

A green haze strip at the bottom shows pictures of objects that have to be found. The list keeps getting more icons as the player uncovers new information. Five hint slots are used to store fireflies that can be found and captured on the locations, with new ones appearing all the time. They show the position of one of the required items when used. Certain parts of the scenery bring up a small window with a close-up view of the scene. Some contain a few of the necessary objects, while others have puzzles where a mechanism has to be manipulated directly to solve it. [source:mobygames]
