When Mayan artifacts from their royal family that date from after their assumed death are found, you are sent to investigate. You find that the last Mayan princess escaped, fleeing the destruction with help from an unlikely source, and follow their trail.

The gameplay in Forgotten Riddles: The Mayan Princess is that of a hidden object game, but with a twist. Instead of providing a list of objects to find in each scene, a list of riddles are included. Solve the riddle, then find the answer in the scene. Each set of scenes has a few more riddles than are needed to finish the set, and a few hints are available, so if the player cannot figure out a riddle they can continue. For less skilled players an apprentice mode is included, which lacks a time limit, and has more hints available.

Each stage has several scenes in it, which can be viewed and completed in any order. Some scenes need to be unlocked first. This is done through placing tiles on the scene in the correct location, told through riddles. After each stage, unlocking the next stage is done by solving a tiled puzzle. Each tile needs to be rotated into the correct position; rows and columns will lock into place once correct. [source:mobygames]
