Grimm's Hatchery What a crummy day. Your step-father died and gave his castle to your evil step-brother. Luckily though he left it with one condition. If you can raise 100,000 gold coins in 100 days your step-brother, Lord Boras, will get the boot and you'll get the castle and of course reign over his Lordship. How are you going to go about raising all that gold? Naturally by raising dragons, gryphons, and other mystical creatures and getting involved in the commerce and trade of their eggs.

Grimm's Hatchery is not just a raise a pet and look after it game, but is at the same time a business simulation and a wee bit of a graphic adventure. You'll soon find yourself with the keys to your first of three farms where you'll raise creatures, feed them and sell them and their eggs. You can also use their eggs to create new creatures and even combine their eggs at the apothecary to maybe create a different creature altogether.

When you're looking after your hatchery you will have to feed your creatures with grain you'll purchase in different parts of town and be on the lookout for raids by monsters hunting after the eggs they lay and the creatures themselves. Fend off the monsters by initially hitting them with your hands. Don't worry though, soon you'll be able to get that sword and if you're really good that wizard staff to assist you in cracking down on those pests.

As your creatures wander the farm they will lay eggs and it's up to you to be sure to pick them up. Later on you will be able to get a cart that will automatically pick up the eggs. The eggs all have different values depending on the creature it came from and you can maybe hatch the eggs to get more creatures. Not all eggs are going to give you a creature though so sometimes maybe it's better to sell them and not risk destroying it.

Soon you will have built up your wealth and you will be given opportunities to run a few small errands and interact with the towns people. These errands will help you in moving up to a better farm and eventually to purchasing better creatures since all the creatures available belong only to one of the three farms. The interactions you have and the way you deal with people could also help in your acquirement of future farms at better prices or even getting special bonuses. [source:mobygames]
