Live for Speed Live for Speed is an online racing simulator. Its main features are the realistic physics engine and internet multiplayer with up to 32 players in race. This simulator offers 20 cars of various types and classes - from classic road cars to GTR's and single-seaters. Most of the cars are fictional. However, there are 4 real car replicas in the game: RaceAbout, MRT5, Formula BMW FB02 and BMW Sauber F1.06. The recommended controller is a steering wheel and pedals, although there is a good support of a mouse or a keyboard.

You can race on 7 large track areas, while each area has a number of its configurations. There is also an autocross area with a 1/4 mile drag strip or a skid pad. Licensed users can make their own "autocross layouts" - several objects (cones, walls, poles, tyre stacks etc.) can be placed on any track and wherever they like, so new original tracks can be created.

A free demo version can be downloaded from their website. It has got almost all features of the licensed versions - ability to race online, full online web statistics, unlimited setup changes etc. The demo is restricted to 3 cars and 1 track with 3 configurations (+ reversed) to try out. To access all cars and tracks and all features of this game, you have to buy a license. So far, there are two licenses to buy - S1 and S2. S1 contains 4 cars and 9 tracks (including demo), while S2 contains all cars and tracks available in Live for Speed.

The three developers have a close connection to the community and recently visit the official forum to get ideas what the players want to see in the game. The game is being developed all the time and new features are published in free patches.

In the recent S2 patches, several improvements were made. Physics and graphics were improved, new cars were added (BMW Sauber F1.06 and Formula BMW FB02). The maximum number of players in the server has been increased as well - from 16 to 32 in race and 47 in the server (spectating + in race). [source:mobygames]
