Meteor Storm is an Asteroids style game.

The story behind the game has the player, a member of the Falurian Empire, investigating an ancient relic that belonged to a race known as 'the People of Sphere' which is locked in a Trans-dimensional field. Things were going well until Xxkraan Raiders, aliens from Andromeda, attacked.

Their attack consisted of sending a swarm of asteroids at the player's ship with their own craft following them in. The player must fight for survival using their X-ray beam to shatter asteroids and slice open the enemy vessels.

The player has three ships / lives with which to survive the onslaught, each is equipped with a hyperspace jump to assist if local space gets too crowded. Points are awarded for asteroids shattered and enemy ships destroyed. Bonus ships are awarded every 10,000 points. [source:mobygames]
