Sakura Taisen Monogatari: Mysterious Paris takes place in Paris of the 1920's, sharing the story arc and featuring characters from Sakura Taisen 3.

In this game, the player takes control over Kojirou Akechi, a detective from Japan. His sister Miki is a dancer at Paris Kagekidan, the same organization featured in Sakura Taisen 3. Kojirou comes from Japan to Paris to see Miki performing as a front-row dancer for the first time at "Les Chattes Noires". However, upon arriving he finds out Miki's roommate Elza has disappeared. Kojirou will have to solve the mystery, that will lead him to secret dark societies that are flourishing in Paris.

Unlike the previous Sakura Taisen games, Mysterious Paris is a pure Japanese-style adventure, without any battles. The game progresses as a detective investigation, which involves talking to suspects, gathering clues, etc. In the end the player receives a title, depending on his/her PI skills. Interaction with the characters is performed using the same time-limit system as the previous two games: the player has to choose a response quickly, since silence is also considered response.
