Have you have ever lost something you left in plain sight, wondered what happened to that odd sock, or turned away for a minute to see that something has vanished into thin air? You are not crazy! There is a perfectly logical explanation for those disappearances. The Scavengers took them!

Scavengers are a race of aliens who raid the universe of "artifacts" for their museums. The museums are varied in appearance and structure, some likened to places on Earth while others are completely foreign. They reside in different Worlds throughout the galaxy and are protected by various locks and chambers.

You are a member of an elite task force created by the Inter Universe Insurance Corporation called the Scavenger Hunters. Your objective is to find the lost objects and to destroy each museum. Travel to five such worlds and find the missing objects on the list you are given for each world. You must also locate and use keys, special fuses and color-coordinated crystals on your journey. Puzzles can consist of simple arithmetic, flipping levers in different locations and those that are color-oriented. When you are ready to end the "mission", return to the Alien Control Room and then your office to see how you fared and receive your reward.

Scavenger Hunter is a type of hidden object game, since it contains many of the same elements. However, it is decidedly different in one respect - its replayability. The AI engine used by the designers regenerates the entire game each time you start a new one. Everything is randomized and shuffled - the worlds themselves are changed, the objects within them are different and change in quantity, exits and entrances are locked when before they were not, etc. For this reason, the game has been dubbed "The Replayable Adventure Game". According to the developers, it can be replayed over 3,000 times and the A.I. driven randomiser ensures no two games will ever be identical.

Gameplay is solitary in first person, point and click. There are over 4,000 images in the game, and approximately 1,000 possible layouts for the worlds. The game features a unique musical soundtrack and sound effects. Graphics consist of colorful still locations with some animations. [source:mobygames]
