SchattenJagd SchattenJagd is a short freeware adventure game played from the first-person perspective. Two characters are shown talking in a dark alley at night. The echo of two gun shots resounds and a moment later the player sees the dead body of his conversation partner next to him. He stands up and goes after the killer right away. The aim of the game is to discover the identity of the killer, to avoid being blamed.

The game is presented entirely in black and white, with a sense of noir reminiscent of Frank Miller's style, with different kinds of scenes: fixed, side-scrolling and panel-based (comic-like). The player can examine the environment with two mouse-based icons: examine and interact. At the bottom an inventory is shown, where items can be stored, combined or used in the environment. All text, dialogue and responses to actions are shown in the top left corner.

The game is entirely linear and backtracking of earlier locations is not possible. Based on the decisions in a dialogue scene, the game leads to two different endings. [source:mobygames]
