Shroomz: The Quest for Puppy Shroomz is a Mr. Driller clone made for the casual market. The gameplay remains the same as in the original: the player must guide a character to the bottom of the screen, by digging through a pile of tiles (in this game most of them are multicolored mushrooms).

The main character is a little girl called Bashful wearing boxing gloves, and her mission is to rescue her lost puppy. Players control the kid with either the keyboard or the mouse, as she punches downwards and sideways, destroying all the connected obstacles and drinking a purple elixir to recover health. Bashful can climb over the height of one tile, and the player must be careful with falling tiles while penetrating deeper. Each level starts with three lives, and Bashful can die squished by the falling debris, exploded by bombs or expire by lack of elixir.

Besides the destructible tiles, including a more resilient stone that takes several punches to break, there are some power-ups to help the girl. They are activated with punches and some of them, like the bombs, can kill Bashful if she doesn't get away in time. Instead of saving, the game offers a password system to record progress.
