Takeda 2 is the second strategy war game in the Takeda series. The game takes place during the Sengoku period (????, Sengoku jidai) in 16th century Japan, a time of social upheaval, political intrigue, and constant military conflict. Japan's regional lords, the Daimyo, are fighting for territorial control since the country's central authority was weakened.

Japanese history includes three prominent Daimyo who waged wars against each other: Takeda Shingen, Oda Nobunaga, and Nagao Kagetora (also known as Uesugi Kenshin). You will have the opportunity to play one of these famous men, each striving to become Shogun, the supreme military commander. Each has different weaknesses and strengths and begins in a different section of feudal Japan.

Your armies must be organized for the most effective attacks. Use divisions and formations and command them in epic battles. Keep the morale of your soldiers high so they won't be effected by fatigue or fear. Handle the politics of the times by forming alliances between clans, arranging strategic marriages and managing relationships within the clans and with others. As your character succeeds, you will gain experience and improve your skills. Special items can improve your skills or the skills of your generals.

Each lord has a castle which has been recreated from actual Japanese layouts. The terrain is varied with forests, hills, rivers, roads and mountains. The World Map allows you to get a strategic overview of the country, inspect your cities, and build and position your armies.

Before beginning a battle, you can choose to record it for later viewing. The game can be played entirely by mouse or you can elect to use pre-set hot keys. [source:mobygames]
