Z-89 Z-89 is the Coco 3-exclusive variant of Zaxxon, by the same author (Steve Bjork) who developed the original, officially licensed Datasoft version. This game was released twice (with some slight changes), once when sold by Game Point Software, and then directly by SRB Software after Game Point folded a short time after.

The basic play of Z-89 focuses on the objective to destroy the Zaxxon robot at the end of the two floating space fortresses, while defending yourself from planes, tanks, missiles, and colliding with terrain. You have to keep your fuel topped up as well, by shooting fuel tanks. The game is played in isometric 3D, showing you flying at an angle, where you can fly side to side and up and down (you are always moving forward). Z-89 adds one new twist to Zaxxon: in the space sequence (between the two floating space fortresses), in addition to planes coming after you, you also have meteors to contend with.
