Game Classification

Z-Type is a simple shooter controlled entirely by typing English words on the keyboard, inspired by Crimsonland and The Typing of the Dead. It consists of different waves of enemies that appear near the top of the screen. The player cannot move his ship at the bottom, but has to type in the words that hover over the different ships to defeat them. Each correct letter fires a bullet and only when the entire word is formed will the ship explode. With each wave the player has to type a little faster. When it takes too long to take out a ship, it starts firing half a circle of bullets that consists of separate letters. Players can take these out by typing in the letters. The game is over when a bullet or a ship collides with the player's ship at the bottom. [source:mobygames]
