Children of the Nile (Enhanced Edition) is an updated version of Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile offered online through Valve's Steam distribution platform. The enhancements are also made available to owners of the original game, free of charge.

Next to a whole list of fixes, this version updates the game with new features. This edition is compatible with the Vista operating system and adds new statues, fountains, shrubberies, plazas, shrine variants and a new bricklayer variant. The brickyard is a new building used to store bricks closer to constructions sites.

Other tweaks include faster travel on roads, priests have become more effective, the construction of pyramids has been sped up, barter times have a shorter duration, and temples have become more important compared to shrines. Papyrus is more effective as well and the Hapi's "No Flood" event has become less powerful.

As for usability: the camera can now be controlled through the WASD keyboard keys and there is a tutorial scenario to get familiar with the game. Resources are now shown on both types of map and the game indicates what kind of materials are needed for certain buildings. In the same vein, problems with the supply chain are displayed on the affected buildings as well. Due to new indicators, players can now track satisfaction (for both homes and figures) more easily, and right click orders are stored under a new button. [source:mobygames]
