AHx-1 is a simulation of the fictional helicopter AHx-1 Viper. The player controls a member of an elite unit who uses this helicopter to beat three campaigns. Each campaign features eleven missions and are set in Columbia where drug lords swamp the world with heroin, Russia where evil General Nemarov wants to renew the Cold war and Libya where Colonel Ghaddafi has to be beaten.

Every mission begins with a thorough briefing that includes primary and secondary objectives and a lot of not necessarily needed background information. After the briefing the player stocks up his weapons for the mission which include typical gear like a 30mm--gun, "Hellfire" rockets which can kill everything in one shot and "TV Missiles" which flight path is controlled by the player. Similar to the Comanche series the gameplay is action-oriented.

The missions have varied goals, e.g. the destroying of units from the own side as a cover-up or the annihilation of certain targets in contaminated areas. Besides the typical cockpit view there is a special aiming mode. While using this mode the player gives the flight control to the co-pilot who holds the height and speed but doesn't react to obstacles in the way. [source:mobygames]
