BBC Battlefield Academy BBC Battlefield Academy is a turn-based strategy game set in World War II. In the three campaigns (overall about 30 missions) the player takes control of the Allies to defeat the Axis Powers in Northern Africa, Normandy and the Ardennes.

The battles consist of the usual traits of this genre: planning the tactics and trying to anticipate the enemy's actions. Every round the player gives orders to the units and then they are performed. The game cuts back the complexity and utilizes only a few statistical values; most prominent is the absence of life energy. Every shot is calculated regarding the possibility of hitting the target. If the shot meets its target it also has to penetrate the armor, which is subject to the used unit and a random change - a hand gun is no threat to a tank. If both conditions are met the goal is destroyed.

However, the units have a similar function to hit points because it decreases with every hit. When under 50 the unit is pinned down and resist when attacked - if morale reaches zero, the unit flees or resigns to the enemy. Units have abilities, e.g. tanks know to overrun infantry.
