Exteel Exteel is an on-line sci-fi third person shooter where giant Mechanaughts battle each other using both melee and ranged weaponry. The mechs are modeled in a style similar to that of evas in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the game is colourful throughout. It is powered by the Unreal Engine 2.

Difficult to find in the first place, the game's story has been detailed by the publisher a year after release. It tells of a colonized planet Natha and its continent Taryn. The settlers had gained independence from the Galactic Federation upon settling Natha. 30 years later, though, they are divided into four factions -- Marston, West Palamo, Palamo, Aiers -- and here they are on a planet-wide endless conflict in which the player gets to take part.

The player can customize both the pilot and his mech between battles. The pilot can use his level-up points to acquire and upgrade abilities, while robot equipment can be bought and equipped with in-game currency obtained either by faring well in battles or bought with real life money.

During battle, mechs can bring with them two sets of two weapons each -- one weapon for each mech-hand. As weapons will overheat after being fired, they can be swapped for the other weapons set, while the overheated set cools down. Mechanaughts can also equip a booster that allows for a very short flight in any direction: either a flight upwards, or a hovering dash in the horizontal plane.

Players can organize into clans and then take part in the specialized clan rankings. [source:mobygames]
