FreedroidRPG A technologically superior and futuristic universe is populated by robots and men in harmony until the succession of an event called "The Great Assault". Machines of this utopia run two competing operating systems: Linux and Windows. Linux is free, created by the developer community while Windows was created by a private company, Microsoft.

The Microsoft operating system is developed only by a closed group of people and soon began to be pursued as a target of ambushes and malicious individuals. The MS defended himself as best he could, but one day a plague infected the systems of androids so overwhelming and irreversible.

Since then only a few droids ran an operating system that was still loyal to the human race, Linux. Windows took over and subverted the robots and chips from around the world for the destruction of mankind and the establishment of a tyrannical dictatorship.

In this context, where the resemblance to the contemporary world is a coincidence, you control Tux the penguin-champion, the banner of free software, on a mission to save the world from the virus and caused chaos. During his journey, hackers will help you. If you successfully complete the minigames, a robot with the hacked operating system will come to your aid.

FreedroidRPG is a role-playing game. It jokes about Microsoft, RPG conventions and incentives to get people to use free software. For graphics, it uses OpenGL and has Diablo-like shops for exchanging items and learning skills. Enemies, levels and inventory were adapted to the style of the penguin.

The plot is driven by a series of goals. Most of them involve the destruction of robots, finding items, talking to NPCs (non player characters), exploring, defeating opponents and equipping Tux with the best armor and weapons. [source:mobygames]
