Magic Encyclopedia: First Story Catherine, a student in the magic academy, receives a message written in a flying paper bird. When she opens the note, a magic spell transports her to an unknown jungle, where she learns about a terrible dragon that must be stopped.

Magic Encyclopedia is a hidden object game with adventure elements. Instead of collecting objects from a list, this time the objective is to collect pieces of objects scattered on several locations, assemble and use the tools created to solve puzzles.

The bottom of the screen shows faded jigsaw pictures of the necessary object pieces. After being assembled, the object is stored in the inventory at the right side. Some of the pieces only appear after solving one of the mini-games. They are variations on classic games like Tower of Hanoi, jigsaw puzzles, Pipe Dream, etc.

The objects are used on specific places on each screen (for example, a key is used on a lock). Some stages have multiple locations and the player must go back and forth, collecting everything and solving all the puzzles to finish the level and move on. [source:mobygames]
