The Silver Lining: Episode One - What is Decreed Must Be The wedding of Princess Rosella and Edgar, which was taking place on the Green Isles ruled by her twin brother King Alexander, was darkened by a cursed spell cast upon them by a mysterious evil black-cloaked stranger. King Graham of Daventry, father of both children, was present at this ceremony along with his wife Queen Valanice and many other guests, but he was unable to prevent the tragedy. Now his only goal is to dispel the evil magic covering his beloved children who have fallen asleep.

The first of five episodes of the unofficial sequel to King's Quest series puts a player in the shoes of King Graham. Viewed from 3rd-person perspective, King Graham is controlled with an icon-based interface in 3D world constructed with the Torque Game Engine. The common actions (walk, look, interact and talk) are accompanied by inventory items with four slots for recently used ones. Reaction to all player actions is voiced by a narrator. Close-up examinations are provided for important environment objects and persons while talking with them.

This episode introduces player to the world mostly with animated sequences. However, during the game King Graham changes clothes, collects three inventory items, holds a few conversations, examines the environment, and even uses the map to sail a ship between several isles of archipelago.
