Incoming Forces The background story is a direct continuation of the previous one.

Set twenty years after the original Incoming, humans on Earth began to worry after the defeat of the invading aliens that another attack against them was a real possibility and they decided they needed to take preemptive action rather than just passively wait around. Soon this paranoia, combined with a lust for revenge, led to the creation of a vast armada to search the universe for impending threats from hostile planets and to destroy them upon discovery. Eventually, the humans found the alien planets and started their attack.

In this game, you command a number of vehicles like different types of fighters, bombers and tanks. In some missions, you will have under your command a number of aliens which will help you accomplish your goals.

There are sixteen missions, each introduced through an animated briefing. Each mission is broken into a linear series of five or six secondary tasks such as escorting friendly vehicles, defending installations, and defeating groups of attackers. The play modes are a bit limited, as aside from tutorial and multiplayer modes, your only option is to play through the campaign.

The game has a few multiplayer options, including eight-player deathmatch and team deathmatch modes. However, the game doesn't have a built-in server browser, and there's no support for the simultaneous use of ground and air vehicles (a server can only implement one or the other).
