Narcissu is a short freeware "visual novel" about the relationship between two terminally ill characters. The protagonist of the piece is a 20yr old man who has just passed his driver's license examination and is healthy at the beginning of the story, and the other character is a slightly older girl who has spent her life in hospital. They meet through unfortunate circumstances and decide to achieve one last thing before they die.

The text appears just underneath the pictures. There are no choices to be made in the game and it'll take about 5 hours to finish, although you can save at any time, of course, and carry on from where you left off. There is the option of voices or no voices.

Narcissu was originally released in Japanese but has been translated into English in a joint collaboration between "insani" and "Hæleþes áwendende". [source:mobygames]
