Word Travels Word Travels is a spelling game, where words are constructed by assembling cards with letters on a tray. In some modes, the letters and words can also be spelled with the keyboard. The words need at least three letters to be valid, with longer words giving more points. After submitting a new word, its definition appears briefly on the screen for a few seconds. Some parameters, like the deck decorations and soundtrack, can be adjusted in the options menu. After completing all levels, the game moves to another location with a new background picture. There are hint and shuffle buttons at the bottom of the screen to help the player. The game has four modes, each with its own gameplay mechanics:

Shuffle is the easiest mode, where the objective is to form new words by picking up individual letters from eight cards. The cards are drawn from a long twisting deck strip occupying most of the screen.

Tripeaks is a medium difficulty mode, where the cards are stacked in three triangular shapes, with only the bottom ones revealed and available to create words. As the bottom cards are removed, the top cards are gradually uncovered until all are used on new words.

Golf is another medium mode, where the cards are organized in columns and the starting letter automatically added to the tray. Only the bottom letters can be dragged and dropped on the tray to complete a new word.

Solitaire is the hardest mode in the game, where the cards are displayed on seven trays, each with its own individual deck. At the top, a deck without a tray serves three cards each time. The objective is to drag and drop groups of letters between the trays to create new words. New letters are added to the trays after they become empty, until their decks are completely used.
