This XBLA game updates the classic gameplay of the 1983 game Lode Runner with 3D Graphics and 220 new levels. Like the original, the player controls a character that has to collect all the gold on the screen and avoid the deadly enemies (the Monks, or the Bungelings from the Apple II original back in the 80's) that chase him. Instead of digging holes, he has a gun to blast parts of the scenery.

This version brings new gameplay elements, a level editor (which allows for uploading levels on Xbox Live and editing downloaded levels) and online play. The game also contains a timeline of the Lode Runner series. In singleplayer, the classic mode is called Journey, but there is also Hang On with eight levels filled with gold where the amount of enemies gradually increases. The goal is to collect as much gold as possible, and the result is graded as Bronze, Silver, Gold or Diamond. [source:mobygames]
