1001 Nights: The Adventures of Sindbad Sindbad was a poor fisherman that once encountered a fabulous treasure near a sunken ship. He shared his wealth with the impoverished populace of his village, angering the evil wizard that ruled the land. The wizard sent his men to capture Sindbad, and after forcing him to reveal the location of the treasure, they thrown him overboard to drown at the sea. Sindbad was rescued by Chalida, a princess that was cursed by a sea demon to spend the rest of her life as a wooden ship figurehead. In return, she asked for his help to lift the curse by finding the jewels of her magical crown. Sindbad must find all the gems scattered throughout the world.

1001 Nights: The Adventures of Sindbad is a hidden object game with the legendary Middle Eastern hero as the main character, first introduced in one of the tales inserted by the English translator to "A Thousand Nights", an 8th century Arabic book. Most of the time, the player has to find and click on all the items listed at the bottom of the screen, on locations filled with assorted objects scattered through the scenery. The scenes are used several times with variations of gameplay, where the list of names is replaced by pictures showing portions of the scenery that have to be clicked, grayed out images of objects whose pieces have to be collected from the location, the silhouettes of the objects or several riddles about the items. At the end of each stage, the list is replaced by an inventory with some of the collected objects, and the player has to drag and drop them on their appropriate places to perform an action or complete a task.

Besides the list items, several bugs crawl over the scenes and can be optionally captured to be used later on Chalida's bridge screen, where they have to be stored on jars to increase the power of the talisman. Sindbad's talisman is the hint button, showing the position of one of the required items when activated, but taking a long time to recharge after use. Mini-games appear on separate screens, where the player has to reassemble a jigsaw puzzle made of map pieces, slide a series of rectangular stone blocks inside a limited square space to create an exit path for a jewel, complete a pipe line to diverge the flowing lava from a volcano, find all the differences between two mirrored images, and complete other similar challenges.
