Adventure Joe is a side-scrolling puzzle game in which players take the role of Adventure Joe, daring explorer. Joe has gotten himself lost in the Amazon and it's up to you to help him find his way out.

Gameplay is non-competitive and takes the form of a screen-by-screen puzzle game in which each screen features a different type of challenge which must be overcome before players can advance to the next. As players progress through the Amazon the nature of the puzzles will sometimes reflect the area in which the player finds himself. While the game is presented in a platform format the game is non-violent, and has no dependency on reflexes or traditional side-scrolling gameplay. Adventure Joe may become trapped, which can render the game unwindable, however this is acknowledged as a bug.

The game is divided into four parts, each encompassing three levels, which are represented by a specific time of day: morning, afternoon, evening, and night. The changes inherent in this are purely aesthetic and have no bearing on the actual game, instead offering a gauge of the player's progress through the game. [source:mobygames]
