Anchor: The Last Hope of the Brilliant Ocean Anchor: The Last Hope of the Brilliant Ocean is a freeware arcade game where the player controls a small yellow submarine with a cage attached to it, whose job is to fish all the creatures from the sea and bring them up to a platform floating on the ocean's surface. The tiny seacraft is equipped with a limited amount of harpoons and torpedoes, that can be replenished by touching the platform.

The harpoons are used to capture the sea life, while the torpedoes are launched to destroy obstacles and enemies. The sub can be destroyed by sinking boulders, mines and other dangerous objects, or explode after the air supply is exhausted. A gauge at the bottom right shows the remaining air left, with red arrows appearing over the sub when the reserves are almost empty.

Each of the six levels have unique features and creatures, like the blowfish that can only be captured when deflated, hammerhead sharks and red crabs that attack the cage liberating all the captured creatures, octopi that squirt ink making the screen pitch black for a few seconds, and other amusing little touches. A radar at the bottom left always shows the relative positions of the platform and the cage. Sometimes the cage becomes loose and starts to sink, and has to be retrieved and reconnected to the submarine. [source:mobygames]
