Doctor Who: Shadows of the Vashta Nerada is the fourth and final game in the series of four Doctor Who short 3D adventure games made to accompany the 2010 series of the British TV show. It is an adventure game specifically tailored to the casual audience, so whilst there is a fair amount of puzzle solving and inventory use, it is designed with the target audience of a TV programme in mind, not a gamer. The game is mainly mouse-driven, though there are keyboard alternatives for all actions as you take direct control of either the Doctor or his companion (only one at a time depending on the situation), often you must switch between the two, so they can co-operatively solve a puzzle.

This final episode returns to the style of the first two as the TARDIS appears on a futuristic undersea base on Earth at Christmas (which is when the game was released). As with most Doctor Who stories, something is wrong, the Doctor and Amy are immediately forced to flee the TARDIS as a mysterious alien shark threatens the tunnel they are in. Most of the episode is set on the undersea base involving plenty of running, hiding and dodging, not just from sharks but from the dreaded Vashta Nerada, the creatures who live in the shadows. This deadly threat was first introduced in the television series a few years ago and now makes it's game début. [source:mobygames]
