Doctor Who: TARDIS is the third in the series of four Doctor Who short 3D adventure games made to accompany the 2010 series of the British TV show. It is an adventure game specifically tailored to the casual audience, so whilst there is a fair amount of puzzle solving and inventory use, it is designed with the target audience of a TV programme in mind, not a gamer. The game is mainly mouse-driven, though there are keyboard alternatives for all actions as you take direct control of either the Doctor or his companion (only one at a time depending on the situation), often you must switch between the two, so they can co-operatively solve a puzzle.

This episode is set exclusively aboard the TARDIS, the Doctor's ship for travelling through time and space which he is always with in the TV series. For the first time in the series the player has to actually control various functions on the TARDIS in order to solve the puzzles. It also introduces a new room, the Doctor's study, which contains various mementos of previous stories, both in the games and on television. You begin playing as Amy who must rescue the Doctor after he falls out of the TARDIS and is caught in a field. Whilst doing so you inadvertently set free an old foe of the Doctor who must be stopped.
