In Extreme Rodeo the player participates in a rodeo event. There are six disciplines. The first three - bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback - consist of riding on wild horses or bulls. Here the player uses the mouse to regulate his mass centre to avoid falling of. With a mouse click he can provoke the animal to make it more wild and gain more points.
In the calf roping event he has to chase a calf, swing his lasso and wrestle the calf to the ground. The barrel chasing includes exactly what the title suggests. But the last event, the bull poker, includes a catch: Here the player is the bull and chases three clowns which sit in the area playing cards.
