A high school student named Kyosuke Kozuki is invited by his friend's mother to participate in a test voyage aboard the experimental high-speed ship Basilisk. Everything goes well until the ship's crew encounters a man adrift at sea, and takes him on board. The man claims to be a marine researcher, but his horrifying true identity is soon revealed: he is a cunning, psychotic murderer. With the crew unable to help, Kyosuke must figure out a way to stop the killer before he claims more victims.

Kusari is a visual novel with adult scenes. The game mainly consists of text descriptions and dialogues accompanied by still anime-style images. The player can influence the course of the story by helping Kyosuke be in the right place at the right time, and make other decisions that will help him to get rid of the killer.
