Game Classification

Mission 2001 is a clone of Asteroids, dumbed down to the capabilities of the Commodore PET.

Like in the original the player controls a spaceship and can thrust forward and rotate. The player must fire on ever-moving asteroids who break up into smaller pieces when shot. When in trouble the player can use hyperspace to escape to another random location on the screen.

In this version the ship instantly brakes when the player lets go of the thruster and everything (including bullets) can only strictly move in eight directions. [source:mobygames]
