Planet Fish is the first game by Ludia based on an original IP. The first version of the game was released on WiiWare and is different from the iPhone and iPad release, although the gameplay is similar.

The iPhone and iPad release of Planet Fish is a freemium game; the game is free to download, but the player can buy premium content such as aquatic decorations to make his/her aquarium look prettier. Rubies can be exchanged for premium content. These can be acquired through normal play, but it usually will take a very long time to get enough of them to buy something. As a result, players can buy rubies with real money to get premium content faster.

In the game, the player controls a small underwater craft and fires suction bubbles to trap and collect fish. Once they have been captured, the fish can be observed in the player's own aquarium. The player can then personalize his/her aquarium by adding decorations, and screenshots of the aquarium can be posted to facebook for all his/her friends to see.

The game features 96 levels, more than 200 fish from different locations around the world such as the Great Barrier Reef, the Kerguelen Plateau, the Ryukyu Islands, the Seven Seas and more. [source:mobygames]
