Speedball 2: Tournament Because of the outbreak of a civil war the rival groups founded the extremely brutal streetsport-league "Speedball" to carry out their fights. But soon the league got more and more popular and more dangerous. After ten years Speedball was declared a national sport and was played by professional teams.

One of the teams, called "Brutal Deluxe" (which you managed in Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe) is now sitting on top of the first league since fifty years and it is upon you to make your way from the 4th league up to the first and grab the championship title from "Brutal Deluxe".

Your team consists of three types of players: men, women and cyborgs. Each kind has it's own advantages. While women can run faster than anyone else, cyborgs aren't that easily knocked on the floor. Playing matches will grant you credits with which you can buy upgrades for your whole team and your players also gain points that you can put either into skills like speed or accuracy or in their AI parameters. The higher the players AI parameters are, the better he'll play for example in defense.

Once you've put together your team, you go into one of the four available arenas and try to score more points than the enemy team. This can either be accomplished by simply scoring a goal, by hurting the enemy players or by hitting the stars on the side of the playing field. There are also several different kinds of power-ups spawning on the field like freeze enemy team or teleport the ball directly to the rusher of your team.

Since the game is basically a remake of Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe you have the choice between two control-schemes: Classic and Advanced. In Classic-mode every action has their own button assigned and so you can only make for example direct shots or high passes. The advanced-mode instead allows you more freedom by assigning two actions to most of the buttons like normal shot and check. Which action is triggered depends on you having the ball or not.
