Takishawa is Dead is a difficult platformer presented in a 3D world. The player controls a character who hunts a dangerous criminal that goes by the name Takishawa. A big reward is promised for whoever captures him. The game takes place in a world where different screens are connected through platforms with arrows. The aim of the game is to progress through the screen and try to find Takishawa.

It is possible to interact with the different characters in the world, move around and jump. Additional keys control the camera zoom and rotation, needed to get a better view of the environment. Most of the game consist of jumping platform puzzles that require precise timing and a good sense of depth. There is an unlimited amount of lives, but save points can be accessed to continue from specific areas. The game is not entirely linear as there are often different paths to explore at the same time.
