tranquility tranquility is a game where the player flies and bounces around a colorful and geometric world. Within this world there are usually many platforms floating in the air and a "spinner" in some hard-to-reach place. Reaching the spinner is the goal of each level. The platforms have various shapes, and some might be moving. The player moves around in the game world by moving the mouse; gentle, subtle movements are required for effective control. By bouncing off the floor and platforms, the player can reach very high altitudes where the gravity will drag them down slowly. To bounce higher, the player can press the Space bar to increase his downward speed, then release it just before hitting a surface. Going through a bottom of a platform will also launch the player upwards.

The levels and the music of the game are procedurally generated online by the game servers and sent to the player's computer. The levels come in batches of seven; each time the player collects a spinner, the player is immediately transferred to the next level; after the player collects the seventh spinner, points are awarded before a new collection of levels starts. As the player completes levels and receives score, the player moves up "Ranks" and "Realms", receiving virtual cards that represent his progress through the game. The player's score and cards are saved on the server and can be viewed at any time.

Free and paid memberships used to be available. The free membership adds a couple of features, but it is only the full, paid membership that makes the entire game experience available - without a membership, the player can only play a free set of random seven levels every day and his score isn't being registered.

The game servers and thus the game itself are scheduled to close in 2010. [source:mobygames]
