The kingdom of poor King Uterus is under attack by evil forces from beyond. As a brave heroic troll you are the only thing (literally) standing in the way of the evil onslaught.

An unusual spin on the Breakout genre, Troll, places the main character in place of the customary paddle. Besides running left and right you are able to either use your shield to bounce the fireballs trying to penetrate your defense or use your trusty morningstar to swat said fireballs. The morningstar also comes in handy for bringing devastating blows to the enemies who attack at ground level and try to burn down the village behind you.

There are six areas of the map to traverse through and multiple levels within these areas. Bonus levels also appear at random and will allow you to collect bonus points. Levels are passed once the castle the enemy is attacking from is destroyed by the fireballs you ricochet back. Bonuses and penalties also float down to the player allowing him special abilities like turning into a rock to become invincible, and penalties such as reversing the direction in which you move. Boss battles will also hinder your quest to rid the lands of the invading evil. [source:mobygames]
